On the southern tip of Isla Bastimentos is a peninsula called Macca Bite. It got its name from the Macaw parrots. There are several places to eat, a water hotel, an eco adventure lodge, Tranquilo Bay, and several families who call the peninsula home. Tranquilo Bay is working with one of the local indigenous communities to develop a reserve next to the Bastimentos National Marine Park and with various government agencies with regard to the expansion of the park.
